Secondary Source: America Enters the War

Update your Portfolio: Write a letter to President Wilson
You are a concerned citizen living in America in April 1917. You've read all the news about war in Europe and around the globe. You've heard about the Lusitania, the unrestricted submarine warfare, and the sinking of American ships.  You are an adult (early 20s) and you or your friends and family could be called to war if your President asks Congress for a Declaration. Write a persuasive letter to President Wilson explaining your opinion on whether the U.S. should or should not enter the war. Use information from the document and what you've learned in class and from Chapter 13 to shape your letter.  The requirement is 500 words AT LEAST!

World History: The Start of the "Great War"

Download the link and read about the beginning of WWI.  Although the Assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand was the first step towards war, it was not necessarily a cause of the war.  In any event, the assassination started a process of each of the great Empires of the day declaring war and starting a 4-year long struggle that would usher in the modern era.

You are to answer the writing prompts on the last page in your own Google Drive document that you will continually update throughout the Unit.  Title this Document, "WWI PORTFOLIO"
